So the doctor appointment fell through.
A pay raise also fell through.
Going on vacation this summer fell through.
Housing for summer fell through.
And the engagement fell through.
But no worries. I have a great life.
I wrote a fairly decent 15 page paper in 8 hours.
I got 100% on my group presentation for Sociology.
I got assigned to review the entire Jimmy Stewart collection at work (talk about a summer project).
I was put in charge of the Cecil B. DeMille collection (over 1,000 boxes of material that need to be processed or catalogued and numbered, which I will be supervising -- talk about a summer AND fall project).
I have parents and sisters who call, text, and email me on a frequent basis to check on me and say hello.
I have an awesome room mate.
I have three wonderful dogs.
And I (still) have a great boyfriend.
Life's good.

who's the fool...
On April 1st, I got an exceptionally sincere string of text messages from Adam regarding his spur of the moment decision to sign up for a teaching English excursion in China. Due to the heartfelt tone of the messages (i.e. "this is something I've wanted to do my whole life"), I decided it was best to not treat it as a joke, just in case I happened to crush his hopes and dreams. I hoped it was a joke -- it was April Fool's Day, after all -- but in the event that it wasn't, well. I didn't want to be the kind of girlfriend who says no to her man's dearest wishes.
Over the next couple of hours, however, I felt myself torn in two directions. It's a joke, I'd tell myself, Just a joke.
But what if it ISN'T?
Joke.
Maybe not.
Joke. Adam wouldn't drop everything to go to CHINA, and in JULY.
But you KNOW the message said that he knows it'll push the wedding back to September (did I just tell you that there's going to be a wedding sometime this summer? Hm...), and...well? Joke?
Joke! He wouldn't do that.
He might.
NO! Because he wouldn't leave me to plan an entire wedding by myself. And he wouldn't leave before his brother and sister go on their missions. And he wouldn't miss being engaged. And...would he?
You don't know.
I DON'T KNOW!
And by then I was too sick to ask him about it, and so spent an evening throwing up and worrying that my future fiance would be running off to China and get back a week before our wedding -- which I don't want to have in September because of school, which he well knows.
Readers, you probably realized it was a joke long before I was completely sure of it. Joke it was -- he got me.
Note to self: NEVER worry about any giant, life-changing plans that people inform you of on April Fool's Day. Chances are, they're joking.
Thank goodness for that.

sometime's perfect happens...
And when it's this kind of perfect, it puts all other perceptions of perfect to shame.

For fear of embarrassing this beautiful lady, I'll keep this short. She got engaged last night, and every time I think about it I start to cry. Not because I'm unhappy about it, but because I'm so happy about it that I can't stand it! Brianna and Matt are just their own kind of perfect. They are both such good, kind, honest, spiritual people. They've going to be a team now that will be incredibly strong. I'm so excited to see how their lives turn out! I bet they'll be an unstoppable force for good, because as separate individuals they are. Double that and you're talking about amazing potential!
As I talked with Brianna about this (and still am talking about it, she just doesn't know that I'd been working on this post for about 20 minutes before we go started), she said that this is a fairytale, being with Matt for eternity. And it is! Who better to author your fairytale than the Lord? This gospel is so true. It's so happy and hopeful. We are SO. LUCKY.

I love you, my beautiful friend! You are one of the best friends I have ever had in my life, and I am so excited for you to take this step in your fairytale. Thank you for your example to me in all parts of you life. You are wonderful!
There is perfection out there, people. Not the world's view of "perfect". But with God, all things are possible. With God, even a fairytale becomes a reality.
