All right. Today was a good day. Church was not so bad-dad spoke on integrity and did a good job. Mom taught the Sunday School lesson on why we worship, and Sister Cronin taught the Relief Society lesson on more worshipful prayer. I went to Relief Society with mom today because all of the Laurels (oldest young women in the ward, ages 16-18) went to the Singles' Ward for an introduction thing and I stayed so I could hear my parents talk/lesson.
Here's how all of this works: In the LDS church, 12-18 year old girls are in Young Women's, which is just Sunday School stuff and activities during the week. The 12-13 year old girls are Beehives. The 14-15 year old girls are Mia Maids. The 16-18 year old girls are Laurels (me). It include 18 year old girls because you don't "graduate" from Young Women's until you graduate from high school. This means that when I turn 18 I'll still be in Laurels until I graduate a few months later.
Graduated 18 year old kids (boys and girls) enter the Singles' Ward, which runs the same was as a regular ward in the LDS church (a ward is just all of the people who go to the same block of meetings-it's generally divided up by neighborhoods and such. Our building has three wards in it) but none of them are married.
Savvy?
After church I came home and the home teachers visited with us (home teachers are men in the ward who teach a lesson at their assigned family's home once a month. I don't really know why we do it, but it's kind of fun sometimes. Our home teacher knows all about Harry Potter and LOTR and Pirates. Not to mention math...), after which I took a sort of nap. We had a lovely taco salad dinner, courtesy of mom, and I got ready to go to a fireside for all SNM youth counselors.
I can honestly say that I have not felt so amazingly wonderful in a long time. Every single person in that room cried at least once because the feeling was wonderful. The experiences and testimonies about what we do there were awesome. I got up and spoke about my time with Sheleena and Emily, and how wonderful they are. It was so cool to hear all of the different stories and to realize how much we have all been changed.
Ah, shoot. Mom wants me off. I wanted to write and tell you all about how wonderful SNM has been to me. Perhaps I'll share tomorrow?

week in review...
Sunday: Went to church, listened to an amazing talk by Megan, a friend of mine who came home from her mission a couple of months ago. I'm glad I decided to go. It was great.
Monday: School sucks. At least I've got some good friends (yay for Multimedia corner of doom boys :) ). I didn't have to work. That was good. Later in the evening my sisters and I babysat for a single mom who has four kids, works three jobs, has two dogs, and is super stressed out. I helped each kid clean their room, tidied up the rest of the house, cleaned the kitchen, and played with each of the children and my sisters. I was happy to help my new friend out; the lady is super super nice and she has the greatest kids.
Tuesday: Woke up not feeling well. Tried going to school for third period but ultimately failed-I came home early after calling a neighbor to check me out. Meghan and her partner didn't win at State History Fair, and both were rather relieved. Mom told me to lay on the couch with the window open and watch a movie. I did. Picked Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and enjoyed it so much that I watched it again when my family got home. I don't know if I like those movies because they're well made, or if it's just the fact that Orlando Bloom is so darn handsome. Maybe it's both. I suspect it's predominantly Orlando Bloom, though. We also watched the second film, which was good too. Again-Orlando has something to do with it.
Wednesday: Stayed home again. What? I didn't feel well, okay? Besides-I hadn't had a chance to watch At World's End yet. And I did go to work, Tuesday and Wednesday. So there. First cast meeting, which went all right, except for the fact that I ended up in tears three or four times from fear and feelings of absolute worthlessness. Thank goodness that my dogs were with us. Yes, Misty is Toto. Buddy comes because he gets so lonely when he's home by himself. I still don't know what I am. Neither does the director. *shrug* Whatever.
Thursday: SNM night!!! It was great-even though I did have to drive myself. Scary. Oh, well. A button popped off of my uniform, and I didn't have time to sew it back on before work, so I cheated. I put on a t-shirt underneath. Technically it's not official, and a uniform Nazi could have a fit, but too bad. I'm not going to work with an open shirt and nothing underneath it. Sorry. I also had to pay for gasoline because my dad forgot to fill it up before he left on his trip. Again. Second or third time he's driven it to empty. *sigh* Annoying, because my parents get on my case when I spend money for anything, even if it's food for the car. Oh, and I didn't go to school. I watched the same movies again. Tee hee.
Friday: Went to school. What a mistake. No, it wasn't too bad, actually. Just lame and boring and ughness as usual. Work wasn't bad, and I bought some bird feeder kits for my sisters. So far they're still on the table untouched. I should go get some wood glue and do them all by my onesy. Hm... I also brought dinner home because I was too tired and too unhappy to cook. Just pizza, cookies, and soda. Along with some grapes and carrots and stuff. We watched the first film again (need I type it out? Nope) and had a grand old time with our junk food and Will Turner squeeness. I finally got the Awards Assembly pushed out of my mind and all of the disappointment that came with it. I nearly got the issue of no Prom date off of my mind, too, helped by the presence of attractive pirate onscreen.
Today: More pirates!!! All three, actually. I think. No, just two and three. Sort of half-hearted attempt to clean my room (more like throw stuff in the closet and the crack between the wall and the bed to give an appearance of cleanliness, because I DON'T CARE), did not go shopping, did do laundry, and did shower. So most of my plans came through. Did not, however, find it possible to contact aforementioned Sparrow and Turner to help me locate my scribblings of poetry, so did not find the papers swallowed by the Locker of Davy Jones. Another time, perhaps.
And now-off to bed.
Oh, bugger! I almost forgot. I went for a walk in the rain today with my sister. It was quite fun, especially the part where I pretended to be a certain member of the crew (NOT Elizabeth, and seeing as she's nearly the only female, you'll have to figure out who it is I've made up, 'cause I'm not telling) who's soaking wet and helping to bail out the ship. Ah, the imagination. I took my camera and found some lovely wet flowers to photography. Perhaps I'll post them tomorrow. It was very enjoyable, though, even though I got very, very wet and my camera got a tad bit dripped on, too. Thank heavens for a gigantic umbrella and a sister who does what she's told. ;)
This post has been absolutely nothing but randomness. I'm having a hard time following it myself, and I'm the one whose lived out this blasted week.
NOW I'm going to bed. Maybe.

history shmistory...
You all know that I love history, but I hate my history class. Well, turns out that I didn't fail like I thought I would, nor did I even end up with a B+. Somehow (I think it was due to extra credit) I pulled off an A-. O.o YAY!!!
We had a quiz on the presidents today, with the requirements being to name the president who fit in each listed year, his party affiliations, and what he did while in office. I found that surprisingly easy, because I was able to link each president to an event that happened while he was in office (i.e., 1862 was the beginning of the Civil War [beginningish], so Lincoln was in office, he was a Republican, and he wrote the Emancipation Proclamation, stuff like that). I passed, shocking myself. Everyone else, all nine of the other kids, failed. I'm on the right side of the line this time, for once.
Somehow Matt got us on the subject of updating the pictures of presidents on the wall in the classroom. He asked Mr. Carpenter why there was no picture of President Obama on the wall with the other presidents, and why the picture of President Bush was so much smaller than all the others. Mr. Carpenter said, "Well, President Bush actually sent me that picture with a note thanking me for doing such a great job teaching. There was also an attachment asking for money. *chuckle* I didn't send any money, and seeing as how he didn't ask me to return the picture I didn't send that back either."
Then he paused, scratched his chin, and said "I wonder why President Obama hasn't sent me a picture yet."
I didn't even think. It just blurted right out of my mouth.
"There wasn't enough money left from the Stimulus Bill to pay for postage."
Everyone, even Mr. Carpenter, burst out laughing. I just looked around for a minute and went back to doodling. It was silent again when I realized what I had actually said.
Bewildered, I spoke again. "That was actually really funny."
Silence, then a roar of laughter, especially from Josh, Matt, and Jacob. I seriously didn't realize how funny it had been until it was nearly two minutes later. I guess I'm the kind of girl who gets the joke on Saturday, even though you told it to her on Friday during lunch. Thank goodness it didn't take me that long to figure out one of my own.
SNM was great tonight. The kids put on their annual Roadshow, and I, being a part of the choir with my partner, got to wear a party hat and blow one of those paper whistle things that look like a snake's tongue. I have no idea what they're called. It's been way too long since I had one at New Year's. Anyway, I ended up not being with Sheleena and Emily, because there were two girls who didn't have partners who I was asked to keep an eye on. Amy is in my class, and I know her pretty well (the girls at SNM are all split up into different colored classes; I'm in White). The other girl has been coming to SNM for about four weeks. Her name is Amelia, and she's a sweetheart. She speaks very quietly, has a very strong grip, loves colors, and her laugh tinkles like tiny silver bells. I like her a lot. Oh, and David did a very good job as the Happy Meter. He would be a very good Vanna White, come to think of it. ;)
Oh! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIMO!!! (mom, duh ;) ). It's her birthday today, and I got her red roses and yellow tulips, because I couldn't decide which one she would like better. She and the rest of the family are up in Salt Lake at a concert for her birthday. We went to Chili's for dinner (sooo good) and then went our separate ways. LOVE YOU MOM!!! :D
Since my puppies were terribly sad when I left for school today, I promised them that I would take them "bye-bye" later in the evening. So, since the family is gone away tonight, I took them for a drive around Provo, showing them where I work and stuff like that. They got bored about twenty minutes later, and we came back home. Now one's asleep on my foot, and the other made a bed in my laundry. Ah, well. It's my fault since I didn't put it away. Too lazy.
Oh, another thing. The Scout Office hired me. YAY!!!
I'm done.

empty and full...
My stomach is empty and my mind is full. Not a comfortable situation to be in. I'm so worried about so many things that I keep randomly bursting into tears. I'm afraid I'll do something to make my mom angry and she'll yell at me. I'm afraid I'll not be able to get all of my grades up by next Friday. My room is a mess, my closet is worse. Multimedia Flash animation is discouraging, and so are my Ceramics projects. Money is so hard to come up with, and I have tons of expenses coming up. Dad's not home till late tonight.
Something good though. Tonight is SNM, and I get to ride with David again. He's a really nice kid. I'm glad I get to hang out with him on Thursdays. And I get to see Sheleena!!! Bad thing: Road Show practice, and I'll be doing my solo for the first time. Not happiness.
Mom brought pizza. I'm going to be done now. :)

today just sucks...
Not really, but it's sure felt like it. Nothing has been going right. That, too, is a "not really" statement, but again, it's felt like it. I mean, I didn't crash the car driving to and from school and work, and I didn't break the vacuum at work again, but still...today has just sucked.
Last night, SN Mutual was really fun. I didn't teach (yay!); we had a visiting ward come. One of the youth counselors broke his wrist doing the obstacle course that was set up, but other than that nothing very exciting happened. Sheleena wasn't there, so I was sort of bummed out. The girl I was partnered with for the evening really didn't like me, because I wasn't "her Tara," so she deliberately was difficult. It went from locking herself in the boys' bathroom (awkward) to popping balloons to make kids cry to shoving me down the stairs. She was not happy that her buddy was gone and I was there as a sub. Oh, well. I helped put tables away afterwards and got complimented on how "tough" I am by the male leaders. That's right. :) And they gave us rice krispy treats (my FAVORITE!!!). And David, the kid I carpool with, got accepted to BYU. Yay, David!
Skipped first and second period today because I felt awful. I slept until 10:30 and got ready for school, only to find out that Misty had found candy somewhere and had thrown up in the bathroom. Great. It was lovely. Then science was boring, but interesting at the same time. Some parts of nuclear fission are fascinating, and then there are other parts that put me to sleep. Hit me with a nuetron when I get tired, okay? Maybe I'll be able to "split" the parts of me that are tired and interested so they work in different parts of my brain and I can do both at once. Sheesh.
Lunch was good. I like eggrolls. A lot. My fortune cookie was kind of a downer though. "Don't continually look to the future for success when happiness is right beside you." Looooooooonnnnnnggggg foooooorrrrttuuuuunnneeee coooooooooookieeeeee. I've been chastised again.
My Ceramics project is NOT going the way I want it to. I kept getting dizzy in class and knocking it over or bumping into the new pieces so they fall off. Then everyone was laughing at me because I didn't understand what their jokes were. Like, for example, they kept doing this obnoxious "That's what she said" thing over and over again and I didn't get why they were all laughing. And we had a sub, so the kids sort of took advantage of that. Ugh. Today was dumb. Stupid project, stupid people, stupid me.
Got to see Michelle and Dustin at work, and I took the poster that Mr. Dashner signed for the school library to Mrs. Loosli. She was so excited, and she hung it up next to the signed poster of one of the Fable Haven books. Neatorama. Oh, and while I was at work, some random person kept texting my mom's phone (which I had in case of emergency). They kept telling me to meet them at a certain address near BYU and asking me what my name was, how old I was, et cetera. Text after text, no time to answer. Finally I got sick of it going off, so I texted back and told them if they wrote one more time I'd give their number to the cops. No more texts.
To be perfectly honest, I feel horrible. My friend Coty was going to come over tonight to watch a movie, but I started to feel super sick again. And it snowed. I mostly feel bad right now because I've been a bit of a monster to the family, but I said sorry. I was super frustrated with Meghan (as usual) and so was Amanda. So was mom, though. Meghan wouldn't put her clothes away and wouldn't help with the dishes. Then Buddy ate Misty's food (again), and I put too many clothes in the washing machine. No major problems, just that weird whomp noise. Mom took care of it, so it's all good. Now mom and Amanda are watching a movie and Meghan's doing stuff in her room. That has been our day. Woot.
Remember that science test I was all nervous for? Well, I got a 25/26 on the free response section and a 21/22 (I think that's what it's out of now) on the multiple choice. Yay! :D
I've tried to make some of it positive. Really, I did. But I don't know how well it worked. This could be one of my ranting, whining journal entries that no one will want to read because it's so lame. Today's just been bad. I do feel better now. It's all gone, out into the void. Kapoot. Yes.
I'm done. Holy cow, that's long. If you read the whole thing, type 990. Lol, sorry Jacoby!

anxiously engaqed...
In mostly nothing. You could say that I skipped school today, but since it's because I'm ill again there is a legit excuse. I do have to go take the last half of a science test at 1:15, though. I'll probably fail-I can't do the math parts.
The mostly nothing, however, has to do with.......... reading books! Which is a good nothing, seeing as I'd rather be doing that than a powerpoint on Basco, Spain for Spanish. So I've been reading a couple of books. I started the first book in The 13th Reality series during Study Hall yesterday. It's called The Journal of Curious Letters. I have to thank James Dashner for coming up with that brain child because I absolutely LOVE it. Can't wait to read the next one. I wanted to just read the book straight through, because I kept getting stopped in class while reading a clue and losing my train of thought. Grrr. I had to wait until after mutual to start reading it again, and I finished it around three in the morning (hey, I couldn't sleep whatsoever, so I did my laundry and read).
The one I started a couple of days ago is called Cybele's Secret. It's the sequel/companion novel to Wildwood Dancing, and I love both of them. They're super good, and I love the main characters. I didn't like Paula very much in Wildwood Dancing, but as the main character in the sequel you get to know her better. She kind of reminds me of myself, sometimes. Only bolder.
SNM last night was amazing. I helped teach the lesson, which was on learning to be a missionary. We got to taste all sorts of different foods. I was the only one who liked goat cheese, which tastes like a stronger type of cream cheese, and no one liked the coconut water. Weird stuff, that drink. Karob (karob? carob? dunno) was bitter, and the danishes were sweet. All in all, it was good. We also painted wind chimes for the craft activity. Mine's purple, white, and green, all mixed together (nicely) to look sort of like a storm. Well, to me it does. If I ever get a camera for my mom (remember I broke hers), I'll post a picture to show you.
I love SNM. It's seriously the best thing that's ever happened to me. And I love The 13th Reality. And Cybele's Secret. And Wildwood Dancing. I guess I'm anxiously engaged in loving things. :)

recalled to life...
I know how that feels now. I have always loved the book "A Tale of Two Cities", written by Charles Dickens. By I really know how it feels to be "recalled to life."
As you could probably tell from my last posts (January on) I've been in sort of the bottom of a depression for awhile. My mom finally convinced me to seek help from the Lord, and I have been liberated for awhile of the adversary's influence. It's like I've been given a second chance. It's awesome. I know I'll be battered on again, but now I know how to get out of it.
Tonight was amazing, btw. I went to SNM again, seeing as it's Thursday. It was their annual Valentine's Day Dance. Honestly, it was the best dance I have ever been to. The kids were all so happy and excited to be there. You have absolutely no idea how much endless energy special needs kids have until you invite them to a dance. They "break-danced," lip synced to High School Musical, Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, and even Garth Brooks. They air guitared, did the Boot Scootin' Boogie and Cotton-eyed Joe, formed trains, and just had a grand old time. There was absolutely no way you could feel out of place or self-conscious. I have never felt so wonderful with a bunch of people before. I just fit in, because everyone did.
Sheleena gets louder and more outgoing every week. It's awesome to see her grow and change. I hope that I'm helping her to take more opportunities; tonight I convinced her to ask a boy to dance. She was so proud of herself after wards. I love that girl. She's amazing.
One sad thing-my sisters and mom are super sick. I'm nearly better; well enough to go to school is good enough for me! So it's sad for them that they're sick. But sad for me is that they've been watching Lord of the Rings. WithOUT me!!! *sob* Ah, well. I have to do homework, anyway.

cough, cough...
I cannot stop coughing. Seriously. I don't know what this is, but it's stupid and I want it to go away. NOW!!!
Last night was fun. I went to SNM and saw my buddy, Sheleena. During the group activity, we made "iPods." I put quotations around that because, well, this is how it works. The only songs that they play are sappy Valentunes such as "Call Me, I'm Yours, Hot Stuff," and "Chill Out, Be Mine, Luv U." The earbuds are shaped like candy kisses. Get it yet? Yep. We MADE them out of conversation heart boxes, paper, stickers, yarn, and Hershey's kisses. What you do is this:
1. Tape two pieces of white or black yarn to the back of the candy heart box.
2. Fold the paper around the box and tape it closed.
3. Stick one large round sticker on the lower side of the box for the dial, and a rectangular one on the top for the display.
4. Tape two Hershey's kisses to the end of the yarn.
There you have it. Your iPod Valentune is ready to go! It was really fun. The special needs girls were lining up hearts, and us buddies would read them out loud for their "song." One girl was all excited to share her song with the group, but another Downs girl sitting next to the girl reached over to the line of hearts, scooped them into her hand, and popped them into her mouth. The girl with the song screamed out, "She just ATE my SONG!!!" The culprit chewed slowly and hung her head. She took her own iPod out of her coat pocked and handed it to the singer. "You can have mine," she whispered. The singer looked at it and said, "That's okay. I don't even like this candy." It was really cute.
Blargh, I'm coughing again. I hate this crap, whatever it is. I missed most of History today because Mr. Carpenter was tired of me interrupting his lecture with my incessant coughing. I spent most of the class period in the bathroom coughing. I did get to a phone and mom was able to bring some cough syrup (not Niquil, but just as bad if not worse). That helped.
I really, really, really want to get better.
