the best people...

...are the people who love you no matter how good or how bad you look, feel, talk, or act. And for them I am grateful.

"that girl," who has stuck with me the longest and who has never, ever given up on me. Ever. And we have no pictures together, and she probably wouldn't want me to post one of her anyway. But just so she knows.

My room mate, my friend I didn't know I had until a year after we met, my "mom" away from home.

My role model, my "big sister" I never knew I wanted, my confidante who knows me better than I know myself.

My advice giver, my three o'clock in the morning go-to guy, my "big brother" I always wanted and never had.
Who I also have no pictures with. And who is ENGAGED! So happy for him!

My partner in crime, my photographer buddy, my friend who loves getting lost.

Honestly? I can't NOT put him here -- even though we broke each others' hearts and it still sucks, and he confuses me like crazy --
I'm so glad he's still a part of my life.

the Move...

It happened. The day I never thought would come. The day of the Move!

Things I learned:
  1. I have too many clothes
  2. I have too many shoes
  3. Scratch that. You can never have too many shoes
  4. More boxes = Less weight to carry all at once
  5. It's a good idea to have a friend who has access to a truck
  6. Organize from the start (DONE)
  7. Food shopping is stressful, but I did it
  8. Make sure your jeans are dry before you move out (oops)
  9. Eat before you start lifting boxes and walking up long flights of stairs (...oops)
  10. The easiest things to forget are the ones you use everyday (like your toothbrush)
  11. Always do the dishes
BIG shout out to Ann, Brianna, Natalie, and my sisters for helping! You gals made it a lot easier.

post 800...

Do you remember when everyone used to say "shnikees" (sh-NIGH-keys)? We used to say that all the time in elementary school. Maybe it was a Utah thing of the nineties?

Anyway. That's the first word I thought of when I realized that this post is numero ocho ciento, or in English, eight hundred. HOLY SHNIKEES. That's a lot of post-age. Good thing it doesn't work like stamps...stamps are expensive!

day 60...

a picture of something I'm excited about...

My dear friend Daniel got married yesterday! He and Alana are so cute. And guess what? I caught the bouquet at the reception. Yep. Pretty exciting to me. After all, you all know how much I love flowers, and these ones? So beautiful. :)

CONGRATULATIONS DANIEL AND ALANA!!!

You two really are adorable. May you be blessed with happiness and love for the rest of eternity. (((hugs)))

depressing myself...but some good news...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BFF!!!

Today is the birthday of my amazing, wonderful, adorable BFF. I love you, Zach! You're the best!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today was my first day in A Cappella. Talk about amazing! I was absolutely terrified at the beginning. Mrs. Mathews took my hand when she was talking to me and started to laugh because she could feel me shaking so much. I all ready have a lot of support in this class, though. I had no idea how many friends I have until she "introduced" me as her new soprano (or something like that) and several people clapped/cheered/et cetera. It was frightening but reassuring at the same time.

I need to stop listening to the "West Side Story" music. We're going to be learning it in A Cappella, and I'm not sure of the words and tune of some of the songs so I'm practicing on my own. I was all ready depressed and tired before, but now I alternate from being somewhat composed to breaking down in tears in front of my computer. I can't figure out what's wrong with me.

Oh, wait. If I think about it hard enough, I believe I can put a finger on part of the problem. Before 7:00 it had been over a week since I'd seen or spoken to my friend. Dear, dear friend. I miss him so much. It's kind of terrifying that being away from someone does this to me. It happens with my family sometimes, too. It's never been like this with a friend though. Gah.

Anyways, it's his birthday today. I finally got up the courage to call him to wish him a happy day. My sisters, mom, and I sang to him through the phone, and he seemed to enjoy it. It made him laugh, at least, and when I teased him about how he laughed because it was so horrible he said, "No! Not horrible! Completely unexpected! I hear 'Is this Zach?' and I'm just about to say how happy I am to hear from you and then 'Hold on a sec...' and then BAM! I'm being serenaded through the phone! Awesome!"

See why I miss him? He's really fantastic. I told him about choir, and he seems really excited. His concert is this Friday, and my family is going. Yay!

"West Side Story" was depressing before I met my friend. Now it's even worse, because I *spoiler alert for this who have not seen this play/movie* imagine him playing Tony like he did last school year, and the character dies! Human hose pipe. :P

I'm putting on Linkin Park. 'Night.

whups...

I forgot to mention that it was my sister's birthday yesterday. Declaration of Independence baby! No, the DoI is NOT my sister, but my sister is a DoI baby. MM just turned 15. She said that this is the first birthday she's had where she actually felt older. I told her to wait until she hits 17. Everyone treats you like your life is half over for six months, and then they get all excited about hearing you're close to 18. And a little worried.

I probably should have talked about the signing of the DoI as well, since it was actually on July 2, 1776. It just wasn't accepted by the people/there wasn't time to get a big enough celebration the day it was actually done. I should know more about it; it's my assigned section for my sisters' and my History Fair project. Yes, I got dragged into it again. But if there's the slightest inkling of an idea of visiting the Library of Congress, I'm so in.

Tomorrow is the 4th. Happy 4th. But fireworks are expensive, my mom is sick in bed after a small "mini stroke" as the doctor called it last time (her second one was yesterday), Misty keeps attacking things so I'm afraid to take her places, my sisters' and I can hardly walk, we all slept through the Balloon Festival, and my brother and sister-in-law are out of town. I think we'll have to think of something else to do today and tomorrow. Not the parade-you have to set up a tent and stay there four days in advance now-a-days. It's ridiculous, but it's a necessity now because otherwise-there are NO spots left. Perhaps the Art Festival though. And maybe the BYU Museum of Art, if they're open. Hm...

i should be...

doing so many other things right now, but I don't want to. Might be because I'm lazy, might be because I don't care. I don't know. Anyway, I was wrong about how many years it's been since I went to a sleepover. I was off by two. It wasn't seven years. It was nine years. Woot.

So, for my first sleepover, it was pretty much amazing, and I don't know why they call them SLEEPovers. You really...don't...sleep. Like, at all. You get a lot of "bugly" Jitterbug girls together in one room. You eat lots of food (pizza from Papa Murphy's, sherbet, key lime pie, strawberries, guacamole and chips, for example) and scream and giggle and do crazy things. Dress-up and karaoke at four in the morning is dangerous. And it's amazing how much fun it is.

Carissa looks like a refined, sophisticated woman of about twenty-five. She does not look like she has had six kids and is actually in her thirties. Neither does she look like a complete nut. She is though. A very good, fun, nutty-as-squirrel poo nut. My now second mom has gorgeous red hair, a gorgeous voice, and tons of personality. Usually she'd be the type of person who overwhelms me, but no. She's amazing, and I love her like mad. Oh, and she made the dress she's wearing in this picture.

Her daughter, Emma, is also a nut. She's got her mom's curly hair and her dad's deeper voice. Pure alto and amazing dancer. And no, that isn't her hair. Emma is a J-bug with me and her mom.

Alaia is Carissa's youngest girl. It was her birthday on the day of our party, so she got to hang out downstairs with "the big kids." She's cawazy! Cute and tiny, she packs a punch. Sometimes literally.

Jasmine is a fellow cast member and J-bug like me. She doesn't seem like the type of person to put on a Batman mask and strut her stuff to "Nobody's Perfect" Hannah Montana style, but she can do it. She's sweet and nice, and also pretty nuts. She likes taking pictures of herself, no matter how "bugly" they might turn out.

So yes, friends. We spent several hours singing and screaming to karaoke music. Everything from Trace Adkins to Josh Groban, Jekyll and Hyde to Little Mermaid, Hannah Montana to Les Miserables. We watched The Lizzie McGuire Movie and awoke at seven to Lambchops and Theodore Moose. At least, I think that's what it was called.

All in all, it was pretty much the most amazing sleepover ever. We're already making plans for another one. Yay!

graduation...

Hooray for the Class of 2009! They all made it out alive!

Ew. Horrible and unintentional rhyme. Sorry 'bout that. Anyway, I went to graduation (mom came with me so that I wouldn't have to sit alone-thanks!), and I have decided that I am decidedly against such unnecessary ceremony. For me, at least. I don't mind going to watch the big shebang for all of my friends; I'm glad they get to be recognized for their achievements. I am, however, absolutely terrified of this time next year. I'll probably do something stupid, like trip or my lip will get stuck to my teeth when I'm trying to smile or my hat will fall off. Ugh. Personally I'd like to just bring my family into the administration office and have them hand me my diploma there. No fuss, no nonsense, no chance to completely embarrass myself in front of hundreds of people. Why all the torture just for a piece of paper that my parents will probably hang up on some wall? *sigh*

So, yes, it was a big shebang. I saw a lot of my friends-Clark, Taylor(s), Abbey, Amy, Chelsea(s), Marissa(s), Josh, Jordan, Matt, Flint, to name a few (geez, I know way more guys than girls. never noticed that before-weird) The biggest reason I went, however, was Tony. He mentioned in passing a couple of weeks ago that it would be cool if I came to his graduation, so I did. After all, what are friends for? It was worth it to see him go from storm cloud when he entered to sunshine when he exited. You know, he's become one of my best friends. He won't agree, but I think of him as one. I am SO glad that I switched from B3 Multimedia to B4 Multimedia and decided to sign up for AP Enviro.

After the ceremony (long, flowery, but not too bad) I went outside to find friends and congratulate them. I saw a lot of the kids I mentioned before, and they were all happy and most of them on cell phones. Tony was the hardest to find; he was getting his picture taken with his parents when I finally saw him (after nearly 20 minutes of looking), and making funny faces at the camera. After I gave him a hug (I forgot how tall he was; my forehead came to the middle of his chest. my Preference heels must have been higher than I thought they were) he asked me what I'm doing tomorrow (was doing? am doing? ???). Nothing until three, so we're going out. Yes! I'm excited. It'll be super fun. He was so funny when I said congratulations. "It's not a big deal; it's just graduation." I'm proud of him anyway.

Let's see, did anything else happen? Oh, yes. A kid stuck gum on the back of my shirt. Turd. My shoe fell off while crossing the street. The pavement was very hot. And a stick got caught in my hair. I had serious wardrobe problems today. But did you notice that none of them were my fault? ;)

I use parentheses a lot. I just noticed that. They're so frequent that they're almost unnecessary. Oh, well.

10:30 am tomorrow begins my term as a Senior in high school. I couldn't figure out how that works until one of the school counselors explained it. On the books, I am officially a Senior in high school when the last bell of the school year rings. The old Seniors become alumni at the same time. So, not only did Tony and I spend my first and his last day as 17-year-olds together (Preference in January), but we'll be spending part of his last day and part of my first day as Seniors together. Odd, isn't it?

Ta!

appreciation...

From Q.

From Danielle.

Thanks so much to Q and Danielle for the "Fabulous" Awards. I really appreciate it, and this poem is dedicated to you both. It isn't much, but it's how I felt.

I now nominate Kate, decor8, Jewel, and Summermoon.

I keep getting the feeling that my Seminary teacher is trying to get me to repent or something. All General Conference I felt like I needed to change some things, but I could maybe wait until later. Well, Seminary this week has been all about repentance and godly sorrow, sins and the Atonement (for more info, email me at wannabkenobi at gmail dot com or check out the LDS official website at www.lds.org) Maybe it is a hint or something.

The Alpine School District Language Fair is tomorrow. Yikes! I'm in charge of a skit, called "The Red Bench" or "La Banca Roja". I'm so nervous, because one girl didn't show up to practice today and another doesn't know her lines. Oh, well. Since it's a Judged Event, my teacher is giving me the automatic 100 points for the term project we have to do, no matter what score the judges give us. Sweet.

I struggled in Science today. Not because it was hard. No, it was because I kept falling asleep, or almost falling asleep. I still don't want to hear the famous "Go get a drink" from Mr. Clark, so I forced myself to keep my head up. I about cried with happiness when he told the class to go take a break.

Lunch consisted of something that was supposed to be spaghetti. It was more like rubberized yarn smothered in an extremely sweet red sauce, which tasted more like Kool-Aid than tomatoes, and chunky imitation ground beef. At least I think it was imitation ground beef. I have no idea what it might have been. At least the roll was good. School food generally is palatable, if only just. I mean, it totally isn't worth $1.75, but hey, it's better than not eating anything.

Ceramics was interesting today. We're starting a new project, meaning we wasted the day. That's just what happens. Mr. Steadman showed us how to make plaster molds of objects that we can use for sculptures; I brought a tape measure. Brad, an amazing and I mean aMAZING ceramicist (that seriously is a word? It didn't show up as misspelled or anything), brought a lightbulb. Awesome, no? So we made molds from oil based clay (yick) and then filled them with plaster. Double yick. It was fun, I guess. Just messy.

I accidentally double charged a lady at work today, and she was mad. She was even more mad when she found out I was new, and told the full-time employee (Paul, at the time) that they shouldn't have a new person running the cash register. When he asked her how else I would learn, she walked out. *sigh* I don't mean to cause problems. Problems just seem to follow me around. Other than that, it wasn't bad. I kept dropping things because I was scared to mess up again, and finally the other Paul (part-time) sent me in the back to get belts. I'm good at stocking belts. And merit badges. Good at that, too.

Well, today wasn't bad, I guess. It could have been worse, and it could have been a little better. That is my analysis. ;)

I'm done.

work day 1...

Started work at the Scout Shop today, after staying home from school for a mental health day. Mom told me to, so it's all good. It went all right; it's just super confusing. I don't know all of the codes and numbers and blah blah blah to ring stuff up. Then this lady and her husband started screaming at each other right in front of my till, complete with the man picking up a neckerchief slide and throwing it down on the counter, then storming out. *sigh* So awkward. And rather frightening. It reminds me of how my parents sometimes acted last year, but it was always at home and my mom did the throwing.

Filled up the gas tank for the third time in my life for a grand total of $19.73. Sweet sauce. And went to the mall after picking up my sisters from their junior high school, where they saw the school play "Alice in Wonderland". It was finished around 8:30, so we stopped by Christopher and Banks (no, they do not sell old lady clothes, Meghan :P) and I'll be going back because they've got pants on sale, which I need. Then we went to Bath & Body Works. Talk about allergy factory. I just go there to buy conditioner for my hair; it's the one time I totally spoil myself. *smirk*

Let's see, what else happened today...oh! I almost got hit while driving four times. And no, it was NOT my fault-they all ran red lights. Or stop signs. Grrr. But my sister was more mad than I was. Pretty funny.

Interesting tidbit that I overheard while at the mall:

Relationship Girl-I mean, he hasn't even kissed me yet. What kind of a relationship is that?
Friend-You base a relationship off of kissing?
R Girl-Sure.
Friend-*snort* Seriously, one kiss and pretty soon that's all you do.
R Girl-So?
Friend-Fine. If you want to be one of those stupid, slobber mouthed, soppy eyed girls on the cheer squad, that's all right with me. I'll just sit back and laugh.

I didn't hear the first girl's answer. I just thought it was funny. No offense to any slobber mouthed, soppy eyed cheerleaders out there. ;)

All in all it was a pretty good day. Mom hemmed my uniform pants for me, so thanks mom! Dad's sick, so Get Well Soon dad!

I'm done.

history shmistory...

You all know that I love history, but I hate my history class. Well, turns out that I didn't fail like I thought I would, nor did I even end up with a B+. Somehow (I think it was due to extra credit) I pulled off an A-. O.o YAY!!!

We had a quiz on the presidents today, with the requirements being to name the president who fit in each listed year, his party affiliations, and what he did while in office. I found that surprisingly easy, because I was able to link each president to an event that happened while he was in office (i.e., 1862 was the beginning of the Civil War [beginningish], so Lincoln was in office, he was a Republican, and he wrote the Emancipation Proclamation, stuff like that). I passed, shocking myself. Everyone else, all nine of the other kids, failed. I'm on the right side of the line this time, for once.

Somehow Matt got us on the subject of updating the pictures of presidents on the wall in the classroom. He asked Mr. Carpenter why there was no picture of President Obama on the wall with the other presidents, and why the picture of President Bush was so much smaller than all the others. Mr. Carpenter said, "Well, President Bush actually sent me that picture with a note thanking me for doing such a great job teaching. There was also an attachment asking for money. *chuckle* I didn't send any money, and seeing as how he didn't ask me to return the picture I didn't send that back either."

Then he paused, scratched his chin, and said "I wonder why President Obama hasn't sent me a picture yet."

I didn't even think. It just blurted right out of my mouth.

"There wasn't enough money left from the Stimulus Bill to pay for postage."

Everyone, even Mr. Carpenter, burst out laughing. I just looked around for a minute and went back to doodling. It was silent again when I realized what I had actually said.

Bewildered, I spoke again. "That was actually really funny."

Silence, then a roar of laughter, especially from Josh, Matt, and Jacob. I seriously didn't realize how funny it had been until it was nearly two minutes later. I guess I'm the kind of girl who gets the joke on Saturday, even though you told it to her on Friday during lunch. Thank goodness it didn't take me that long to figure out one of my own.

SNM was great tonight. The kids put on their annual Roadshow, and I, being a part of the choir with my partner, got to wear a party hat and blow one of those paper whistle things that look like a snake's tongue. I have no idea what they're called. It's been way too long since I had one at New Year's. Anyway, I ended up not being with Sheleena and Emily, because there were two girls who didn't have partners who I was asked to keep an eye on. Amy is in my class, and I know her pretty well (the girls at SNM are all split up into different colored classes; I'm in White). The other girl has been coming to SNM for about four weeks. Her name is Amelia, and she's a sweetheart. She speaks very quietly, has a very strong grip, loves colors, and her laugh tinkles like tiny silver bells. I like her a lot. Oh, and David did a very good job as the Happy Meter. He would be a very good Vanna White, come to think of it. ;)

Oh! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIMO!!! (mom, duh ;) ). It's her birthday today, and I got her red roses and yellow tulips, because I couldn't decide which one she would like better. She and the rest of the family are up in Salt Lake at a concert for her birthday. We went to Chili's for dinner (sooo good) and then went our separate ways. LOVE YOU MOM!!! :D

Since my puppies were terribly sad when I left for school today, I promised them that I would take them "bye-bye" later in the evening. So, since the family is gone away tonight, I took them for a drive around Provo, showing them where I work and stuff like that. They got bored about twenty minutes later, and we came back home. Now one's asleep on my foot, and the other made a bed in my laundry. Ah, well. It's my fault since I didn't put it away. Too lazy.

Oh, another thing. The Scout Office hired me. YAY!!!

I'm done.

3.14159…

Yes, it’s Pi Day. And I have been looking forward to it for a very long time, even though my family is having chocolate cake instead of actual pie. It’s from Costco, so it’s one of those demon chocolate so-rich-and-huge-it-should-be-sent-to-prison cakes. I’m excited much.

So, for yesterday. It was a big day and a happy day for the most part. Slept through first period again because I had nightmares all night and didn’t sleep well (thanks for letting me stay home, mom). Went to second period and made a total fool of myself in front of the class as I stumbled over my pronunciation of the Spanish words while I present on Vasco, Spain. Interesting stuff happened in class, such as awkward sitting positions by certain individuals and rude jokes. Not to mention that the tape job that’s attaching the projector to the ceiling sort of doesn’t work anymore…that was bad.

Study Hall finally came around, and I left class to go meet up with the rest of Science Club to get ready to board the bus for UVU. Can you spell excited? I can! Yay! Anyway, I know Science Club sounds totally dorky, and it kind of is, but you’ll totally wish you were brave enough to admit your nerdiness when you read what we did. *snicker*

First off, they fed us aMAZING pizza. Seriously, the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. AND we didn’t have to pay for it. Score!!! We did have to work for it, though. By sharing everything we knew about pressure and its relationship to volume and temperature. After we ate, we built something. Something awesome. And I mean really freakin’ awesome.

We built cannons. For reals. Not super dangerous ones that shoot projectiles hundreds of yards, though. Kind of a let down, but it was still fun. ;) No, we made cannons that shoot ping pong balls. How it works is you have this thing sort of like a turkey baster, you know the ones with the round bulb on the end? We removed the plastic tube and somehow inserted lamp lighters into the hole. The lamp lighters create sparks inside the bulb thing. Once it works, you then take a cigarette/fire lighter and press down on the button to release the butane gas. Don’t light the actual flame, that’s bad. Just the gas button. Then, hurry up and put squeeze your ping pong ball into the hole. Twist your flint striker and…

BANG!!!

Or pop, whatever works. Out erupts the ping pong ball, along with a lot of flames and smoke. Pretty cool, no? See, I told you it’s cool to be a nerd. You get to blow stuff up. With permission. :)

After we finished up with that, we toured the chemistry labs (they’ll get better) and some other parts of the school. Our first guide was really weird. ‘Nough said. The second guide was cool. He’s an English major, and his wife is a ballroom dancer. Next year he’ll be going to Exeter College, Oxford University. The one in ENGLAND. NOT FAIR!!!! Oh, well. I wish him all the best. My favorite part of the tour was the library. Can I just die and go to heaven? Oh, man, it was amazing. I know where I’ll be hanging out when I finish high school and actually go to college on a real campus. So stoked, man!

Went back to school, showed off my cannon to my Ceramics class, and then drove home. Went to work. It was Dustin’s birthday, and he brought donuts. I asked him why he brought treats for us on his birthday, and he said, “It’s like the kids in elementary school, how they bring treats. It makes me feel little.” Then I just had to mention that he’ll be a quarter of a century old next year. That got a groan and a smack on the shoulder. *smirk* Dustin is awesome.

While at work, I was in the faculty printing room when the door opened. Dustin came in, looked around, and let out a mock sob. “WHY are there so many printers in this school?!” he moaned. I asked if he had to turn them all off due to the energy budget cuts, and he said, “No. I printed something, and I don’t know which one it went to.” I started to laugh and he sighed, leaving the room. About two minutes later, the printer I was standing next to spit out a paper. It was the one Dustin was looking for! Funny, no? Well, I thought it was.

Finally able to go home, I ate dinner with my family (can’t remember what it was, dang it) and got ready to go see my high school’s version of “The Tempest”. Overall, it was much better than I expected, seeing as it’s a high school doing Shakespeare. I saw “Macbeth” two years ago when they did it. Did not make a good impression. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised, except when we got “rained” on during the opening scene. THAT was annoying. There was someone in the back of the auditorium with a big water gun thing shooting it over everyone. Not cool, at all. That was the only thing I really didn’t like. Other than that, it was good. They had a raked stage (where they build up the stage and have stairs or a ramp leading up that the audience can’t see) and had covered it in sand. The set was super simple, with opaque sheet things hanging where the wings are at. It looked really good, and there weren’t any scene changes so it moved fast.

Then I went home. End of day.

TODAY!!!

Woke up, got dressed, and went to job interviews. Boy Scouts are weird. I’ve been offered a position at Scofield Boy Scouts Camp, but I have to think about accepting it. I’ll let you know what I decide. If I do, I’ll probably teach a couple of merit badge classes and/or work in the Trading Post (store). They also want me to be the camp artist (uh oh). That’s a frightening thought. I suck at art. They’ll find out, if I take the job.

I pretty much wasted the whole day after that. I’m still wasting it. I discovered Sorority Life on Facebook. Aka, I wasted my day. And now I’m getting redundant. Let’s just be done now, shall we?

I’m done. Redundancy at its finest, no?

Ohp, I forgot. I LOVE the Twilight soundtrack!!! Muse, Collective Soul, Paramore, Mutemath, Linkin Park, The Black Ghosts, and Robert Pattinson rock!!!

K. NOW I’m done. :)

Wait!! Today is Michelle's Birthday!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHELLE!!! (Dustin's sister, who I also work with)

packages...

OMGOSH!!! MY 13TH REALITY BOOKS CAME TODAY!!! PACKAGE FOR ME!!!!

Okay, now that I'm done squeeing out, I will post. My books came. I pasted in my autographs from James Dashner. And the books are now sitting in the honor position on my bookshelf. They'll be booted off sometime when I get a new squeeful book, but that won't be for awhile. My books get rotated, you see. Whichever one is newest or I'm currently reading resides in that special place. They each sit there at least twice a year, so it's all good. No hurt feelings.

YAY!!!

trippin'...

As of today, I now know what the term "trippin'" means. Here's what happened:

In my Spanish 4 class today, several of my classmates were making jokes when my teacher told Leon that he would put some information in Leon's file. Leon freaked out, crying "Wait, I have a FILE?" Everyone started to laugh and joke about the file. They were all laughing and saying how the files in our teacher's room would incriminate Leon and make it impossible for him to get a job, blah, blah, blah.

I had no idea what they were talking about or why it was funny. Senor Mijares asked a student to translate for me why it was funny, but he never got around to it because he was laughing so hard. Calmly I told them that, duh, every single one of us has a file down in the office which has kept track of our schooling since we were enrolled in Kindergarten. They all stared at me and one of them proceeded to say that I was trippin'.

When I asked what that meant, they all started to laugh again. The boy who said I was whatever that was said it was like high or on one or something like that. The light clicked. "Oh!" I said, "So it's like a colloquialism!"

Dead silent, except for the raucous laughter of Senor Mijares and Mr. Cooper. Someone asked what a colloquialism is, and I took it upon myself to explain. "A colloquialism is a word or set of words which are native to a region, country, or culture. These words are also known as slang," I told them. Still dead silence, broken by the second burst of laughter from my teachers.

After this outburst in class, we set to work. We're learning the Future tense and Conditional Tense. One of the boys was called on to create a sentence for the class. He decided to make fun of his friend, Buck. Let me remind you they're both straight, just fyi. He (Breton) cleared his throat and said, "Esta noche, sacaria Buck en un dato, pero estoy feo." What he tried to say was "Tonight I would take Buck on a date, but he's ugly." What he really said (or in a sense said, I don't know if he used the right words) "Tonight I would take Buck on a date, but I'm ugly."

I laughed so hard! But no one else caught the wrong form of estar. He used "estoy," which is the first person singular of the verb. Baha!!! So while I was laughing, no one else got it. Senor Mijares called on me to explain the error. It was pretty much awesome.

Spanish class was the funniest part of my day. I went from not knowing anything about what they were talking about to completely turning the tables on them. I love being informed. ;)

*sigh* No homework tonight, or any homework that is absolutely necessary to my passing the classes. Ceramics is frustrating again because I keep dropping my clay on the floor. Slippery hands. AP Environmental Science was deadly boring, so I left with the hall pass when I started to fall asleep. Just went into the girls' bathroom and talked to some of the girls in Drama class who were in there. It's what girls do. Seminary was super fun. Most of the people were gone to go to the basketball game in Salt Lake (tournament game for the Lady Bruins-I heard we won), so we played a Scripture Mastery game the whole time. I scored like, 20 points for my team. Yes!

And now, ladies and gentlemen, a huge and heartfelt shout out to:

MY BIG BROTHER, NOW AGE 31!!!! I LOVE YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HOSER!!!

farewell...

My good friend Nic is leaving for the MTC on Wednesday. He'll be serving a mission in France for the next two years. I'm going to miss him. It's been hard at school since he's graduated, but now he'll be across the world. I always looked forward to seeing his smile. He always smiled at everyone. Nic is so excited to leave though. About every five minutes, he'd say something like "39 hours, 22 minutes, and 45 seconds until mission begins! Yeehoo!!!" and then dance around like mad. It was pretty funny, and he was positively glowing with excitement.

Yep, I'll miss him. Luckily he's allowed to email once a week from France. And everyone who visited was told to write him a letter in a book, and he'll read it when he gets to France. He said he wants to read one a day. "It's a little piece of home," he said. Nic's a good kid. He'll do an awesome job.

My one regret: I NEVER asked him out. I wanted to so badly, but was too afraid. Ah, well. Two years and I'll be older, and he'll be more "growed-ups." Then it won't be so awkward for all of his friends to have me hanging around. I'm younger than most of them by two years, some by only one. He, Tony, Lexi, and Taylor were the only people I knew there tonight. But I'm glad I went.

Good luck, Elder! You'll be awesome!

happy birthday....

To me! Thanks to all of the people who wished me a good day at school, through cards, emails, and Facebook. It was really nice! <3

Went to Panda Express for my special dinner, and I watched "Ever After" with my family. I have absolutely no idea why it was rated PG-13, except for the fact that it's as old as I am. I didn't see anything that wouldn't have gotten a PG. Ah, well. It was good, sweet, and very romantic. My sister thinks I'm like Danielle, except shorter. :P

Tomorrow is Preference. I am so excited!

17 looks uglier than 16 did. Sevens just don't have the same flair potential as sixes do.

*sigh*...

I have changed my minds (yes, I have more than one ;)) about Thursday being the best day of the week. I used to think that because it was one more day until Friday, but not anymore. I now say that.....*drumroll please*........

MONDAY!!!!

is the best day of the week.

Yes, it is. I always wake up happy on Mondays. And then the week goes downhill from there. Don't know why, but it does.

Ah, blaster bolts. My mom is yelling. aGAIN. Arg.

13....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMANDA!!!

And dad, too. But he doesn't want me to remember it.

It's snowed about two feet today at my house. Sweet. I'm just freezing cold right now. I should be working on a history paper, but I don't want to. So I'm posting this and listening to my Prince Caspian soundtrack while I have a heating pad on me. So cold!

Gotta go finish that paper. I only need about four more inches of writing, but it's just not coming.
